Frieda Wishinsky

It was a glorious spring day in Central Park with Hans Christian Andersen

I sat beside him and watched kids sailing toy boats on the pond. I was sure some of those kids were dreaming of sailing on a real boat, perhaps to a magical place.

I write about magical places. I also write about family, friendship, history and food. I write picture books, chapter books, novels and non-fiction.

I write kids books because those were the books that had the greatest impact on me. And I write them because I’ve never forgotten what it feels like to be a kid!
